Young Womens Fun Stuff

I no longer am serving as Stake Girls Camp Director for our church - but now I'm in our ward's Young Women!  I love being with all our girls and I really love making cute stuff with them in mind :)

Here are a few things I've done recently~

 I'm over the Mia Maids (14 & 15 year olds) - when they turn 14 and come into my class, they are also of age to attend the church dances.  So with some online ideas, I put together this little "First Dance Kit" bucket to give them on their birthday.

 This past week I had our Sunday lesson on Gratitude. I gave the girls a challenge to find one thing each day they were grateful for and to jot it down in this little journal. I found these cute super mini sized composition notebooks and made a little cover for them with a quote from Pres. Monson.

Then I also made and laminated a little bookmark for their journals - they turned out pretty cute, I think!

 A fun activity we had was a makeup and hair class with the girls. My daughter was the "pro" and showed them ways to braid, curl, and put up their hair. She also showed them some makeup ideas that were both natural and a little more dramatic (I need to use her talents before she leaves on her mission soon!).  This was our little reminder that I handed out to the girls - it has a cute little brush glued onto the bottom :)

School pictures

School Pictures - we've taken them every year with every child until now. Ryan's school didn't give them order forms until the day of pictures - so he didn't have money to turn in - so he didn't get pictures!

You may say, "What about retakes?"... well, you can't get them unless you paid the first time...argh!

His school has broken our family tradition :(

 Now that Girl's Camp is over for the year, I have time to catch up on scrapbook pages. I know I posted pics from this party, but now I'm official finished documenting the day :)

Girls Camp 2013 Wrap up

Our camp was scheduled to be June 18-21st - but we got a call on June 11th from the camp asking where we were!! 

They were expecting us that day (a week early) - WHAT?!  

So we all rallied and got most of our girls to camp with only 6 hours notice!!  I love our leaders!

Our theme was "Oh, the Places You'll Go!"  These are the goodies bags everyone got when they registered.  It had their name lanyard, the schedule, their Secret Sister name, the camp song lyrics, a lollipop treat and a theme-inspired print out.  

 They also got their "Value Pills" (Skittles)

 We usually give out a necklace to the girls each year according to our theme.  We got them large compasses so they can be reminded of the Places They'll Go in life

I gave my teachers these goodies for preparing wonderful classes. I put their photo on "Fox in Socks" and put it on the yummiest shea socks from B&B works

Our camp crafts this year - paint chip bookmarks. They stamped all sorts of designs on their picked out colors and then attached the Dr.Seuss quote on the back and tied their fluffy ribbon on top. We made a double braid headband - those turned out so cute. We had about 7 different fabrics all ripped for them to chose from.  The girls also make this cute braided hemp twine bracelet with heart charm.

Our t-shirt this year. They printed up a little more neon than I had designed - but everyone liked them that way :)

 I had made and laminated about 15 hot air balloons with all the Places You'll Go throughout life (college, mission, motherhood, Temple, marriage, workplace, etc). We hung them all up in our main room - they looked super cute.

 Some of the room doors had Dr.Seuss themed characters and poster on them. We also had a cute "mailbox" envelope on each door this year for the girls to put notes in for each other.

It's kind of hard to tell how cute this hall was with all the colorful ribbons and bows tied to the posts!

We had a great camp and I'm so grateful that I had everything prepared way ahead of time since I had a week less time to prepare.  I was able to just pack up my van and get to camp with the girls!! 

Camp Leader Meeting

Last night we had our last Girl's Camp meeting for the year!  I can't believe camp is in just a couple weeks!! We went over all the crucial information dealing with camp and had yummy treats, of course!

I made up bags of M&M oatmeal cookies for my leaders to snack on while we talked :)

 And to doubly thank them for all their efforts, I made them these candy bar sleeves and passed them out at the end of the night.  I love making fun stuff for the leaders - they are awesome and make camp happen!

Faith in God

I wanted to post a couple recent things we made in Faith in God.  We made this super cute birthday countdown craft. The girls hang it up two weeks before a birthday and then get to flip the little date card at the top.  I made these for Girl's Camp a couple years ago and thought the younger girls would love it - they did and they were so crafty!

 We talked about going into the Young Women's program at church and about the Personal Progress program with it's different values.  Then the girls made these cute value bracelets - helping hold the embroidery floss for each other - they are so sweet and helpful with each other. I love these girls and will miss being their leader!

Girls Camp continues...

Every year I have our Youth Camp Leaders come to my house to prepare for camp. This is the invitation I made for them (Dr.Seuss themed). We have lunch, make room signs, put together kits, train the girls, and just have a fun time :)  I love my camp YCL's!!

Tess is 12

 I can't believe my baby is 12!  One more year until TeenLand! I will post more about it when I actually scrapbook the pages, but until then - these few pics will have to do.  Tess wanted a tropical swim party - it was a little cool so we heated the pool for the first time. The girls had a great time and were super cute! We ended up doing a youtube video of the Harlem Shake :)

Club Volleyball

Tess played club volleyball this year with Fort Bend Fire. She learned so much and had a great time. She carpooled with two of her besties so it made it really fun even though the drive was long. She never complained about going or waking up at 6:00am on Saturdays for tournaments!  It was so fun to watch her grow tons as a player and hopefully will make her school team!

Baseball Season

Ryan just finished his high school baseball season. They had a great year - I love watching him play. I think it's my favorite sport to watch him play (he loves any and all sports!).

He is awesome at stealing bases and played 3rd base and outfield - he can really run and catch a mean pop-up! He just caught the winning hit for the season this past week! I love this player!

Girl's Camp 2013 Kickoff

 Last night was my camp kickoff meeting. I announced our new theme for Girl's Camp 2013 - "Oh, the Places you'll Go!"  It's from the Dr. Seuss book - we'll be focusing on the journey the girls have in this life and all the "places" they'll go.

Here are a few pictures of the treats I made for the leaders at the meeting.  

I always think a water bottle is cuter with a new label!  I'm using hot air balloons as a main focus - so I made these little balloons for the cupcakes and stuck them in a marshmallow cloud :)

Here are my little treat bags all ready to head off to the meeting!  I made these to house Hershey's Kisses and M&M's in them - one can never have too much sugar ;)

I love being the Stake Camp Director (my 5th year!) - it's so much fun being with our beautiful young women and making all these treats and fun things for them!!
