Today would have been Briana's 29th birthday. She passed away almost two weeks ago in a car accident. Briana was, a sister, a daughter, my cousin, and a midwife.
When Jose and I moved to California, we first lived just a block away from Briana and her family. I got to see her almost everyday - she was only nine. She was the cutest big sister and took her role seriously - she had three younger siblings at that time. I remember babysitting them while their mom took a trip up to Utah for a week. One of the cutest weeks I've spent with anyone.
Briana always had a pet bird of some type. She was always carrying that particular parakeet around the house - either wrapped in a blanket or just perched on her finger. Always maternal.
There is a celebration memorial for her today in California - we are also celebrating your mortal life here.
